The objective of Hugskotið is to foster the development of a diverse business landscape in the Tórshavn Municipality by providing entrepreneurs with the right conditions to thrive with room for inspiration, creativity and innovation. Here we encourage action taking and knowledge sharing, here we work methodically to equip entrepreneurs and businesses with thorough and relevant advice. All businesses have different needs and different challenges, Hugskotið strives to offer services relevant from concept, through start-up to company development.

At Hugskotið we offer our business advice free of charge, and there are no restrictions on who can seek advise. Our consultations take place at Hugskotið’s premises, but can, on occasion, also happen online. A consultation with Hugskotið is always strictly confidential. Hugskotið can advise very broadly and in our consultations we use, amongst other tools, the Growth Wheel, which is an internationally recognised business development tool. And you can also seek legal advice from us, for example on how to set up your company.

Wanting to foster a more diverse business community in Tórshavn Municipality, the Municipality set out to create the necessary framework and establish an innovation hub. In April 2014 Hugskotið opened its doors to entrepreneurs and the wider community at elegant premises in Niels Winthersgøta. From day one there was great interest in the services Hugskotið offered, and demand kept growing. In March 2017 Hugskotið moved from the town centre to Sjóvinnuhúsið, on Vestara Brygga 15, a spacious venue perfectly suited to the innovation hub.

From the outset, Hugskotið has offered entrepreneurs the opportunity to take up residency at its elegant and inspiring co-working premises. Working side-by-side in an open airy office landscape enables conversations about ideas and development and allows for networking.

Hugskotið also strives to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the Municipality by organising various events. This work is done in close cooperation with other actors in innovation and entrepreneurship.
